What is the Supply Chain at Dartmouth Health and why is it so important?

The supply chain is a critical component of the safe and effective daily operation of almost all areas of Dartmouth Health. This is particularly true for our Perioperative Services area (also know as the Operating Rooms).

The supply chain in our Perioperative Services department refers to the process of sourcing, organizing, and delivering medical supplies and equipment to the right place at the right time. A well-managed supply chain helps Dartmouth Health and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center operating rooms reduce costs by optimizing inventory levels, minimizing waste, and improving efficiency. 

Overall, the supply chain plays a critical role in the success of our operating rooms which ultimately helps to ensure we have the best possible outcomes for our patients.
